Success For The Average Man - Woman The Method

The Method

Now that you have read all my success articles it is time for the real work to begin.

You were asked to practice the instructions in these articles an hour a day for a year. This will require a lot of work and effort. But your efforts will be repaid a hundred times over in the rewards you will enjoy for the rest of your life. Each of the articles count as one tip towards success.

Begin by buying yourself a pack of 3X5 cards file cards and a small card file to hold them in.

For tomorrow practice writing down six things you want to get done in order of their importance on one of the 3X5 cards. Keep the cards on file so you can be reminded of your progress. On a second card write the words "Reviewing Day's Activities." Place it in the card file. For the whole year every night before retiring practice reviewing your day's activities and goal setting for the next day.

The first week write ten lists of things you do frequently and place them in the card file. Making lists for all you plan to do, and succeed at, develops goal setting and will power. For the first week don't attempt to practice the items on your list. Thinking about them is enough.

Write down your main goal on a 3X5 card and tape it where you can see it every day. Make a second card and carry it with you.

Make a list of what you think are the ten most important personality traits for success. Carry one of the cards for a week as a reminder and try to live by what it says.

As you read this final article, frequently go back to the previous articles to get their valuable messages. I could rewrite them here, but one of the keys to success is work. Especially doing what you don't want to do when it needs to be done. These ten cards on personality traits will give you enough work for ten weeks. Then repeat them.

Start writing the wise sayings and proverbs on 3X5 cards and put them in your file. Re-study all the articles and on 3X5 cards decide what is the most valuable message of each article and write it down.

Your card file will now contain all your proverbs and wise sayings. It will contain a review of what you thought was the importance of each article. It will contain ten personality traits that you wish to accomplish and a weekly plan of how you will do it.

Use these cards daily as reminders of what you wish to accomplish. Practice thinking correctly and deciding correctly. Take your time and don't rush. You are giving yourself a year for these ideas to change you on the inside so that your outside will correspondingly change.

You will be associating yourself with the giants of history. You will be thinking their thoughts and internalizing some of their habits. Some of the greatness will have rubbed off on you.

The more of these wise sayings, these timely tips, you convert into habits by practicing them, the more greatness will rub off on you. The more you will become like these greatest men/women who ever lived.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Your Career

Your Career

No matter what creative project or skills you wish to master the most important one in your life will be your career.

A career is not your job. A job is a place you go to earn money. A career is a vocation that you choose because it is something you want to do; something you love to do; it is something you have the talents and ability to do.

So many people waste their lives doing things that they don't like. One that only provides money but there is no outlet for their talent, creativity or happiness.

Your career is a large part of your life. Choose one that draws out the best in benefits like satisfaction, earnings, environment, achievement, prestige and suited to your individual nature.

Look once again at the goal you have chosen and written down on your 3x5 card. If you have no goal, you drift. Too many goals and you scatter your energies. A goal beyond your reach will frustrate you. one below you will lead to boredom. One with too long a range will get you no where. One with too short a range will get you no where.

Emerson said, "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."

How do you find what is the best vocation for you? Do anything that might help you find yourself. How much time and money have you already spent on things not half as likely to bring you such rich reward as finding yourself? You can change careers at any time. You can start school at 40 or 60. You can find out what is natural for you at any age. Go after it.

Aim at something within reach. Be an optimist but not an idiot. Aim at the reachable. To try something and fail is better for you than trying nothing and succeeding.

There are clues to your future in your past. there is no gold mine as rich as your own past experiences. All your talents, wishes and interests are hidden there. Study them. Dig them out. Remember Acres of Diamonds? Your diamond is probably closer than you think.

Ask yourself of any career that interests you. Does it serve a useful purpose? Am I proud of it? Is it constructive of human welfare? Do I admire people in this career with self respect and satisfaction. If not, drop it.

Some people's talents are so obvious we call them born actors, salesmen, artists etc. They have no problem, but the rest of us have to dig it out.

Knowledge is power. It is doubly true when that knowledge is about ourselves. Get to know yourself, start writing. List your desires, abilities, possibilities, limitations, skills, experiences and possible alternatives. So many apparently "impossible" problems were solved in writing.

Define clearly what you want. If you had your choice of any job, what would it be? Buy yourself a dozen packs of 3 x 5 cards and a large notebook. From now on think and write. Ideas come with writing .

You'll never know what great possibilities are hidden inside of you without a thorough search in writing. Explore it fully. Think, compare, combine, associate relate, adapt.

Write down on a piece of paper the words, "How can I find my right career? or Goal in life? what first steps can I take?" Then listen. Writing this down acts like magic. It starts the flow of ideas. Once you find yourself, most of your other problems solve themselves.

Here is a paraphrase of Kipling's last thought in his poem, "IF"

"If you can stick, and give up through boredom, but keep trying, to the very end, yours is the world, and everything that's in it, and what is more, you'll succeed my friend."

Success For The Average Man - Woman Repetition

Repetition

There's the story about a skinny, old, shabbily dressed Lawyer who appeared in court to plead a case. He was so shabby that every one felt sorry for him. To inspire confidence, he didn't look like much of a match for the opposing, handsome, young lawyer. Yet the old shabby lawyer won the case.

Why? Everyone wanted to know. The young lawyer was puzzled. He went over to the shabby old lawyer. First he congratulated him, then said, "You and everyone else knows I should have been the one to win this case. Can you tell me how YOU won?"

"Sure I can tell you," the old lawyer said. "You quoted eleven sound arguments. But the jury didn't remember a single one. I quoted only one, but I repeated that one nine times in just slightly different words.. I didn't win that case. The repetition won. Young man, never neglect the power of repetition.

Repetition is Heaven's first law.

Therefore repeat the following wisdom sayings over and over as a daily practice until they become part of you.

Life's royal crown jewels: Health and peace of mind. Treat them royally.

Get your happiness out of your work or you'll never know what happiness is.

Make yourself do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain. Face fears fiercely and they'll flee. He who battles with us strengthens us.

Thinking is creative. Think your tasks as easy: that will make them so.

We never grow old. We get old when we stop growing. Keeping useful keeps us youthful.

Yard by yard, all tasks are hard, inch by inch, they're all a cinch.

Test of true courage: Do you always do what you should do, when it should be done, whether you feel like it or not?

Learn how and do now.

All obstacles are power generators.

The supreme philosophy is fortitude, self mastery.

Daily repeat words of power, strength, courage, self-confidence, success.

Act a part long enough and you will BECOME the part.

New thoughts make you a new man.

Be ye renewed by the re-newing of your mind.

Every day say to your self something good is going to happen to me today.

Do that thing you planned to do; it's later than you think.

Success starts with a dream, a thought; but that's only the first step. Writing it down is the second step. Doing one specific thing to bring it about is the third step.

Everyone of us should find time every day to be alone with them self to meditate, to take stock of them self. In silence great things fashion themselves.

Firmly believe you have reserves of health, energy, strength and endurance and that firm belief will help bring it about.

What is old age? It is a lack of interest. Keep up you interest and you'll never be old.

It takes many people a lifetime to learn that health is more important than money, fun and fame.

Nature's changeless Law "Nothing for Nothing."

Everyone needs a goal to keep him from being distracted by non-essentials.

Rest but never quit. Even the Sun has a sinking spell every evening, but always rises the next morning. At Sunrise every soul is born again.

To be great concentrate. Most people remain ordinary because they scatter their energies.

Do you love life? Then don't squander time.

Thinking is the highest faculty of the human mind.

Use yours more often.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Attract Good Luck

Attract Good Luck

There is the story about the fatherless child who saw a man riding by in a fancy carriage. He asked his mother who it was. "That man is a congressman," she replied.

"That's what I want to be when I grow up," the little boy said.

The next morning the mother found a note pasted on the mirror in the boys room, with the words, "I'm going to be a congressman."

The next week the boy took a job chopping wood to get books to read. At 16, he found a job driving mules to help his mother and continue his studies. At 18, he took a job sweeping the academy floors to pay his tuition. For the next 3 years he worked as a carpenter. Then he taught school for $12.00 a week. Two years later, he graduated with honors from Williams College with a law degree. At 26 he was a state senator and at 33 he was a congressman!

His mother stated that the note stayed on his mirror until he was elected to congress. Years later, he became known as James A. Garfield, president of the the United States.

What made him president was that at age 10 he was serious enough to write his dream down on paper and look at it every day.

The starting point of all success is a thought. Write down yours.

Here are some wisdom thoughts of the ages to help you. Create or find your own.

Successful men think. They think up more opportunities than they find.

Nothing is more precious than time, nor less valued. It is your richest treasure. Invest it profitably.

A written down goal, in some ways no one understands, tends to attract every ingredient it needs to realize it.

Risk is essential to life. It's total absence is Death.

Most failures are caused by not realizing the power of momentum, getting started.

You're not fully mature unless you're prepared for the unexpected.

Our greatest need is to teach people how to think, not what.

Rather be tired than bored.

What can't be cured must be endured. Time and patience will make them easy.

The great composer doesn't work because he's inspired. He's inspired because he works.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

The quality of life depends upon your goals.

What we think about most is weaving itself into the fabric of our subconscious mind, increasing it's power to attract what we desire most.

One over looked success technique is doing things in the order of importance.

Your discipline today will govern your tomorrow.

If you have a dream, you have everything that matters. If you have no dream, it's later than you think. Better get one.

Luck and skill are closely related.

Never regret growing old: not every one has the privilege.

The only way to kill time is to work it to death.

Acting rich, keeps people poor.

The most practical of all educations is that which trains us to do what we should do, when it should be done, weather we feel like it or not.

Change your thoughts and you change your life.

Repeat and re-read. Repeat and re-read.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Money

Success for the Average Man - Woman
Money

No matter what you goal is, authorities say there are thirteen categories for people's needs: Career, Health, Security, Courage, Personality, Happiness, Self Improvement, Life Direction, Self Discipline, Love, Responsibility, Friendship and Aging Gracefully.

No matter what your goal is, the truest measure of success is money. It is very helpful and often absolutely necessary for achieving your goals and doing good, for doing everything you want. Sometimes it means the difference between Life and Death.

The Following are more wise sayings, condensed wisdom of the ages. Every one has a definite purpose. They also command action or suggest action. They all say work, work, work and then some more work. It isn't enough to just read wise sayings, you must convert them into habits. They must become automatic, subconscious.

Follow the example of Benjamin Franklin's Master Key to Personal Power. He liked to read history and Biographies. He studied the lives of successful people. He found they all had thirteen traits. He began to cultivate these traits. He tried and tried unsuccessfully. Then he came across one of the wise sayings of the ages, "To be great, concentrate."

He wrote and defined each trait in his own words. He wrote and re-wrote until what he had to do was clear in his mind. He practiced performing some action for his first trait. The following week second action for second trait. Soon his traits became habits in Thirteen weeks.

Now start reading some of the wise sayings of the ages and put them into practice one at a time.

Stand firm against all temptations to spend.

Never be without a pencil and paper to catch unexpected, but useful tips, facts and ideas.

Cut out all non-essentials.

Keep a sharp eye on the Devil, Procrastination.

Every morning say, "I will improve something today."

Short as life is, we make it shorter by wasting time.

He who angers you conquers you.

The Darkest Day in our lives is when we plan to get money without working.

The highest of all arts, and the most rewarding, is the Art of Living.

We can change our lives by changing our thoughts. Our thoughts are are best friends and our worst enemies. They shape our lives.

A strong conviction that a thing can be done conditions the mind, impels it to think, to find a way to do it.

Patience is bitter, but it's fruit is sweet. Sometimes a it is a fortune builder.

Opportunities, when seized, multiply, when neglected they vanish.

Every day drive yourself to do something difficult.

One thing you'll always notice about great or successful people; they are always studying.

Your most prized possessions are your unexpired years.

The ultimate wisdom and ambition is to be happy at home

Success For The Average Man - Woman Wisdom of the Ages

Wisdom of the Ages

If you started to follow Benjamin Franklin's program of taking one personality trait at a time there will be no limit to what you can accomplish in your life.

To insure success in any field you endeavor in, you will need goal-setting and will power. Plus you will need patience to lick the monotony and drudgery that success demands.

Repetition is Heaven's fist Law and it is the best teacher. Never neglect the power of repetition. Repeating and re-reading will be your secret weapons for reaching your goals. Most failures in any project, be it painting a picture or creating a fortune is due to lack of patience and persistence.

Take the following golden messages of the Ages and make them your own. Absorb them, internalize them, and make them habits.

Purdue University made tests to show that material read only once is remembered on 2% two weeks later. Read more than once 6% is remembered. We think faster than we read so we have to go back and read the page again. Do it and you will see something the second time that you did not see the first time. If you start to read these wise tips every day, they can build up your confidence, tranquility, and assurance, so that such things as stress and worry can never touch you.

I have written my wise sayings on 3 X 5 cards. Over the years, I have collected over 600 of them.

At night before bed, I sit in my favorite chair, relax and breathe deeply. Then I reach for a stack of my cards and look at them one at a time and say them aloud. Then I put the one I just said on the bottom of the stack.

I don't pollute my mind with TV, a cheap novel or the news before bed. This is a sacred time. It is these thoughts and emotions that will by the Law of Attraction, determine where you will travel in your sleep. The higher of lower dream state you will go to.

I also take part of my cards with me when I drive. I again don't listen to the radio unless it is a station with uplifting music. Again, I take a quick look at my cards, say it out loud, and put it on the bottom of the pile. Don't waste your time. Use it all productively. These cards work.

Samuel Johnson wrote: "He is the most useful teacher who condenses the most knowledge into short sentences that are easily remembered and applied. "

Sidney Smith said: "The writer helps us the most who gives us the most knowledge and takes from us the least time."

Will Durant said, "For every book I write, I read 500 books for gathering material for that one book."

Here are some inspiring timely tips for you to start with. Copy them on 3 X 5 cards and add many more yourself.

Man alone of all God's creatures, can change himself for the better.

We change ourselves by changing our thoughts.

The easiest and quickest way to change yourself is to set a lofty goal and work for it.

Look to this day; for it is Life, the very Life of Life!

Now is the best time to start anything.

Cut out all non-essentials. Cut all puttering and dawdling.

I will improve something today.

Your environment largely shapes your future. Take the time to select one that will shape the life you like to have.

Be tolerant. Everybody is fighting a tough battle, just like you.

Short as life is, we make it shorter by wasting time.

In wisdom and judgment men over 50 outshine men under 30.

Blessed is he who has found his right work; let him ask no further blessings.

The ultimate ambition is be happy at home.

Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events and happenings, and small minds discuss people and things.

Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the conquest of fear.

He who angers you conquers you.

It is nobler to try something and fail, than to try nothing and succeed.

Half of the world's work is done by people who don't feel good.

To live to be 100, have something to live for, living is for something is part of living longer.

We must have long range goals to keep us from being discouraged by short range set backs.

A light purse makes a happy heart. A small house or car is less annoying than a large debt.

As the gardener prunes the tree to draw the sap into one of the two branches, so must we concentrate on one or two to avoid scattering our talents.

Just once in your life sit down to think and decide what one thing you want most out of life. What do you want to be, to do, or have.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Effective Thinking

Effective Thinking

Almost everybody fails because they have no goals. "Without a Vision a man perishes in the Wilderness." The reason it is so difficult for people to choose goals is because deciding on a goal requires hard work.

Thinking is hard work! Thinking is the highest faculty of the human mind. Thinking should be taught in all the schools. But schools merely tell us what to think not HOW.

When Albert Schweitzer was asked what's wrong with the world he answered : "They don't think enough."

You will never achieve more than the crowd unless you think more than the crowd.

Here is how William James used thought. He said" "When ever I want to throughly understand a subject, I ask questions about it, not of others, but of myself. Questions pry deeper than statements. They have ten times as much power to inspire thinking as statements."

Napoleon said, "I am a great friend of analysis. The questions "How and why" lead to solutions of all my difficult problems.

What ever goal is, ask yourself questions to stimulate your thinking.
For Creative Thinking take a piece of paper and write down the words, What?, Who?, When?, Where?, and Why? then fill in the answers.

Then to speed up the process, write How? Cause? Effect? Similarity? Contrast? Past? Future? Answer all these questions.

Then finish off these twelve questions with the following six statements: Write, Compare, Combine, Associate, Re-arrange, Substitute and Write. Fill in a short comment on these six statements.
These twelve questions and six statements are automatic thought simulators. They help you to concentrate on your project, to compel you to observe.

In real life some newspaper editors require their reporters to answer these questions in every article they write.

Don't be so concerned with the answers you write when you first start this exercise. You will get better with time. The questions you ask yourself are more important than the answers.

Every new idea and invention in the world was produced by combining old ideas to form new ones. There was never a new idea. As a matter of fact the Laws of Quantum Physics now tell us that everything, ideas included, that ever was, is or will be is contained in an infinite Ocean, Mind of God. The Quantum Ocean responds to man's thoughts and questions.

By asking yourself questions you are asking the Quantum Ocean, Mind of God. When you start asking yourself questions you will discover valuable information stored in your subconscious, mind (Quantum Ocean.)

When ever you want to know more about a project, a subject or just want to solve a difficult problem, or make a difficult decision, ask yourself questions. This is the easiest and fastest way to solve your problems.

Learn how to combine your thoughts. Practice writing more.

Bacon said,"Reading maketh a full man, speech a ready man, and writing an exact man.”

Many of us can only think one or two steps ahead. With paper and pen you can think into the future. Substitute the process of writing for the process of mere thinking. Start writing and tap your subconscious (Quantum Ocean). It is a vast storehouse of Power. Turn the switch on by writing.

Doing what you know you ought to do when you don't feel like it develops will power, character, and all other success traits.

Writing will tell you where your rich hidden talents are hidden. Writing will compel you from within to act whether you feel like it or not.

Written words and ideas are magnets and simulators, Writing is the only way to solve difficult problems, the only way to get new ideas.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Personality

Personality

Since we can't get along in life without associating with others, learn to be popular and have fun doing it.

There are three magic words you can use to make your personality a winning one:
Kindness
Friendliness
Cheerfulness

To start building these traits into your personality get yourself some cardboard and cut it into 12 one by two inch pieces. Write down the words kindness, friendliness and cheerfulness on each of the cards.
Put one in your pocket or purse, one on your car dash, one on your bathroom mirror and spread the rest around where you will see them.

All great people have some form of reminders. We need more to be reminded than informed.

Start practicing kindness, friendliness and cheerfulness daily. When you meet someone today find a way to compliment them.

Mark Twain said: "I can live two months on a good compliment."

When you meet a stranger think good thoughts about them.

Emerson said: "What you are speaks so loudly that I can't hear what you say." People will respond to your thoughts.

Increase your "Thank you habit." Say thank you whenever you can.

In your conversations try not to use the words I or me or mine or my. It is difficult but try.

Spend 15 minutes at night before going to bed and review the mistakes and foul-ups you made in dealing with others. Think of a way to avoid them tomorrow.

Start a 'Happiness Book.' Every day write down in a book some pleasant happening. Do it before going to sleep.

Listen to people intently. Be surprised at what they tell you. Don't interrupt and say "I know that." Or add to it. Let them think they are telling you something you do not know and can use. Say, "Is that right?" or " You must be kidding." or "I didn't know that, thank you." What was that?" Don't be a 'know it all', even if you do know it all. It turns people off and makes them angry.

Try to smile more. "Act like your cheerful and you quickly feel cheerful"

Don't try to learn or practice your new personality traits all at once. One at a time.

Franklin had a good method. He wanted to develop 13 traits. He failed for 10 years when he tried to develop them all at once. When he switched to one trait at a time method, he had all 13 in 2 years. He said, "Without this method, I wouldn't have had any great achievements.

Listen to what was said about men with great personalities. It could happen to you.

"He couldn't even talk to a tramp begging for food, without making the tramp feel that he was once a celebrity, who misfortune bought down to this lowly state." Said about Goethe.

"He is a true friend. He knows all about my faults but respects and loves me just the same." Said about Teddy Roosevelt.

Henry Ford was interviewed a few months before he died. He was reminded of all he had achieved, money, fame, power, genius etc. He was asked is there anything he wanted and he did not have?

Ford answered, "If I had it to do over again, I'd go looking for friends. I'd gladly give up all I have of money and fame for a few intimate cronies. Friendship is the best thing a man can have in his life.

Practice your personality traits, kindness, friendliness and cheerfulness. Action alone develops power, changes things and changes us. Act now.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Initiative

Initiative

When you take the initiative in life you build confidence, courage, conversation and a winning self image.

Learn the art of every day conversation, for it may well be that the road to your success will be made easier and quicker by those you meet in daily life.

Talking to strangers can be the greatest game in the world. Use your initiative and talk first. Say, "Hello." Everyone is waiting for the other fellow to talk first. Both of you are thinking the same thing. Try saying hello first and it may cure you of yourself, consciousness, shyness, timidity.

Once you master the art of effective conversation, you'll realize that everything your mind can think, or your heart can wish can be yours.

You can get people to help you. There is a persuasive power in effective conversation.

If you cannot think of something to say, think of the first letter of the word "Wonderful" for conversation starters. It is an optimistic, positive word. It is a conversation stimulator.
W - Weather
O - Occupation
N - News
E - Entertainment
R - Radio and TV
F - Family
U - Uplift ( say something positive)
L - Location (Travel)

Now you will never be at a loss for something to say to friends or strangers.

Effective conversation is the highest mark of civilization. Practice memorizing the list connected to the word "Wonderful" so you can bring them to your mind instantly.

Getting back to your goal to become a better painter, writer, artist, musician, person, or good with money READ everything you can find on the subject.

The Age of Aquarius has given us the internet. Whatever you want to know is in a book, a magazine or on the net.

My teacher told me, "If you buy a 1000 page book, for $1000. dollars and it takes you 1000 hours to read it and you find ONE good idea in it that helps you in what you want to do in life, it is worth it.

Learn from others.
Walter Chrysler said, "I learned more about automobiles in one year of reading than in 20 years of experimenting.

"The school of experience takes so long that it's graduates are too old to go to work." Henry Ford.

Socrates advised, "Improve yourself by other's experiences...... so shall you acquire quickly what others labor or long for."

Remember, take the initiative. Self-introductions are very powerful. There are many people who fear two things, they are being snubbed and saying something wrong.

Try to find something of interest between you. The question if mightier than the statement. People tend to answer any question put to them.

Learn how to ask interesting questions. "How long do you think this rain will last." rather than "It looks like it's going to rain all day."

"Do you like seafood." is better than saying "I like seafood." Do you live far from here etc." Think of interesting questions in the field you are interested in to start a conversation. If they do not know anything about your subject you have lost nothing.

Have fun! Go fishing for information with strangers. You'll be surprised what you will learn. Interesting stories will pop up everywhere. Keep a notebook with you and write down all unusual or odd items you hear in your conversation.

Start today to become a better conversationalist. Take charge of your lower, lazy mind. Get tough with it.

Success for the average man - woman must begin from inside out. We must replace all the habits, ideas, and emotions within us that are stopping us from succeeding.

Initiative, will power and self discipline in life's daily events is the place to start.

One of our chief problems is to beat down barriers of inhibition, shyness, reserve and backwardness. Lean to become agreeably aggressive.

Talk to people!

William James: "The deepest principle in human nature is the desire to be great."

Goethe : "More than anything else, people want to be noticed and recognized."

Work on lyour self and make no SMALL plans. The have the power to stir the blood.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Part 10 Auto-Suggestion

Part 10 Auto-Suggestion

Auto suggestion has been given many names. Self Image Psychology, cybernetic Goal Striving, Sleep Learning, Hypnotic Suggestion, Biofeedback, etc.

There are gigantic creative powers in the body asserting that your are, you have or you can do the thing you want.

Tell yourself daily, out loud if you can:
“I am strong, healthy, prosperous, popular, lucky, confident and courageous.”

Each one of these powerful words is an energy field within the Quantum Ocean. Since Thoughts (words are spoken thoughts) are things, you attract these energies into your life.

By changing your thoughts you can change your feelings. Keep your mind full of positive thoughts and there will be no room for negative ones.

There is more power in words spoken aloud than in silent thinking. Use the correct words when talking to yourself. Always say “I am this or that.” Not,” I will become this or that.”

Auto suggestion is an appeal to your higher self. The best time is when you just awake and right before going to bed.

Take a positive mental bath before retiring. It will influence your subconscious while you are sleeping.

Try saying out loud, twice a day, “I am power, I am courage, I am health, I am strong, I am abundance.”

The best affirmations are the ones you think up yourself. They point directly to your particular problems.

Write them down in present tense and say them aloud. Here are a few to help start you off:
“I do everything on time, never put things off, because the clock of life is wound but once, and no one has the power, to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. I do today that urgent task; I do it with a will, I wait not for tomorrow; my hands may then be still.” Whittier.

“I welcome this day, for it's life, the very life of life. In it's brief span lie all the opportunities of my existence. The bliss of growth, the glory of action, the splendor of adventure. For yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow only a vision. But today, well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of joy and hope. Look well then, therefore to this day.” Sanskrit

“I never stop studying, knowing, when we're learning, we're thought.”

“I am master of getting things done. I come straight to the point. First things first. Essentials only, no trifles.”

“Every day in every way I am getting better and better in health, wealth, happiness and knowledge.”

“I am excited about today. This is the first day of the rest of my life.”

“I have enough money and more is pouring in from the Universal Supply.”

“I avoid criticism as a plague. Any fool can criticize and most fools do.”

“I expect, even look for obstacles and problems, knowing they are not interruptions of normal life. They are normal life. Life's greatest game is licking obstacles.”

Now make a list of your own.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Part 9 Thoughts Are Things

Thoughts are Things

The world's greatest thinkers, philosophers, educators and religious leaders have constantly told us "Your life is what your thoughts make it." Your thoughts control your lives long before the world was given the Laws of Quantum Physics," which tell us scientifically that "Thoughts are Things." Great men said it in many different ways.

Henry Ford said, "Whether you think you'll succeed, or think you will fail, you are right."

Emerson said, "All thought tends to convert itself into action."

William James said, "Dynamic Thought or belief helps create the actual fact."

Buddha said, "All that we are is the result of past thoughts."

There are thousands of books written on positive thinking and positive mental attitude. You can go out on the Net and download free E-book copies. It is wise to build a library of these type of books and read a little every day.

There is a quicker way to success than just reading positive thinking books. Action, doing, exercise and practice. You will develop more power, physical, mental and spiritual for any skill you want in 30 minutes of practice than in 10 years of positive thinking.

The fastest path to success is combining action with positive thinking. Positive thinking motivates us to action. When we wander from our goals they show us the way back. They continuously awaken new brain cells.

This is all good, but the real key is action, doing, practicing. Start writing, start painting, start gardening, start playing that instrument, start looking at new money making ideas. Act, practice and practice some more. Action gets things done. Action moves mountains.

Positive thinking and a positive mental attitude keeps our highest moments permanent. What great things we could accomplish if we could keep these moments alive in our minds permanently. But they fade and we need to renew them. We need daily mental food as our bodies need daily physical food. We need daily reminders.

The best way to remind ourselves daily is with Auto Suggestion. Auto Suggestion is a power builder. Never neglect it, for developing confidence, courage and a positive mental attitude.

Talk to yourself. Talk to yourself.

Auto Suggestion harnesses the power of your subconscious mind, Universal Power, The Mind of God. This is now what we know as the Quantum Ocean. Talking to yourself, talks to the Mind of God which attracts what you want out of the Quantum Ocean. All power lies there waiting for you to call upon it.

Cove's old fashioned Auto Suggestion is one of the best.

"Every day in every way, I am getting better and better." Say it aloud when you awake before you go to sleep. Saying it while you are driving in your car. Turn the radio off with all it's noise. Pay yourself with your own thoughts.

Get a little plastic hand clicker and click every time you say it. Go for 1,000 clicks, 10,000 a million!

One last important quote by Emmet Fox:

"What you think upon grows. Whatever you allow to occupy your mind you magnify in your life.Whether the subject of thought be good or bad, the law works and the condition grows. Any subject that you keep out of your mind tends to diminish in your life, because what you do not use atrophies. The more you think of grievance's, the more such trials you will continue to receive. The more you think of the good fortune you have had, the more good fortune will come to you."

Success For The Average Man - Woman Part 8 Will Power

Will Power

Will Power, self mastery and discipline are three very important words for those who wish to succeed in any undertaking. Unfortunately in the Electronic Age where children us "Spell Check" and "Wikopedia" to do their home work and reports, these words are either despised or not known.

Unfortunate, because will power is ten times more important and more helpful in achieving success than either knowledge or learning. Will Power will help you lick all obstacles, boredom, monetary and other difficulties that defeat most people.

A young musician asked the great Paderewski how he could become master of the piano.

Paderewski answered, "The only way to become master of any skill is to first become it's "SLAVE." And that takes practice, practice, practice.

When I first started my metaphysical studies, I went to a master astrologer to have my chart done. When he was finished he said, "You are a teacher and a writer." At that time I was an electrical engineer working for the New York City Board of Education. I knew nothing about teaching or writing.

I asked him what I should write and what I should teach?

He said, "First get the fattest notebook and start writing."

I asked "About what?"

He answered, "Pick one of your favorite authors and hand copy one of his books into your notebook." He then continued, "Don't even consider yourself a writer until you have written a 1,000,000 words."

This was 35 years ago, pre- computers. To date I have written over 40 children's fairy tales, Two Math books, and hundreds of self-help articles and booklets. I also quit my NYC job, moved to Arizona and taught College Math for 18 years.

What turned me around were some wise words, from a wise man and my will power to do what I needed to do to become a writer and a teacher.

Discipline in your chosen field or the new direction you want to take is the only thing that will advance you to that bigger, grander, you. Skill and talent alone won't do it. There are many skilled people with PHD's pumping gas and driving cabs.

If you have but one gift to give yourself and your children, let it be self disciplines (Will Power).

What can start to change your life now is action. Pick up that pen, paint brush, hoe, that blank resume, the application and take ACTION.

ACTION is the switch that turns the power on. To develop more power ACT. Practice the things that are important for winning success. Avoid useless, time wasting activities. Every skill or task is hard before it becomes easy.

The main reason most of us have not made more of ourselves is that we haven't been stern enough, firm enough and rough and tough on our selves.

Get a new start. Forget your past mistakes. Your greatest assets are your unexpanded years. You don't need more school or college degrees or information, you need will power and discipline.

Listen to what great men have to say.

Emerson, "Thank God every morning you get up and find you have something to do, that must be done, whether you feel like doing it or not. This builds character."

William James said, "Do something every day for no other reason than you'd rather not do it or don't feel like doing it. This Will Power Insurance, for future difficult or monotonous
tasks, is like life insurance for financial emergencies.

J.P. Morgan, "To be a Money Master, you must first be a Self Master."

Socrates, "There is but one philosophy; fortitude, and self-mastery.j"

Today force yourself, compel yourself, make yourself do one useful thing every day for no other reason than you don't feel like doing it.

Get tough with yourself.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Part 7 12 Billion Brain Cells

Part 7 Twelve Billion Brain Cells

Before we are born our brain cells are asleep. When we are born certain cells wake up. They ALL don't wake up at the same time or speed. Breathing, crying, eating etc. wake up first. Those who have new born babies know this to be true. Then sitting, crawling, walking, talking etc. Other brain cells wake up after 50 years of age and older.

Most of our high - talent brain cells never wake up by themselves, and we take them to our graves. Unless some experience in our lives wakes them up, develops them, they remain asleep.

Sometimes a book, a sermon, wise saying, lecture, scare, noble example, success story of great men / women, give them an emotional shock and these cells awaken.

The most valuable thing in your life is the book, saying, etc. that awakens your brain cells and introduces you to yourself and your inner hidden powers. We are all sleeping giants until something awakens our inner powers.

Emerson said, "Few men wake up before they pass on."

All our lives we will be haunted by our inner yearnings and they will not let us rest until we express them. There are two factors that will wake up millions of brain cells. These are goal setting and will power.

Will Power means training our self to do what we should do, when it should be done, weather we feel like it or not.

Dr. Russel Conwell gave his famous lecture, "Acres of Diamonds," over six thousand times around the country. He used the money from his lectures to build Temple University.

His lecture is the story of a prosperous farmer who sold his farm and went searching for diamonds. He never found any and died broke. The man who eventually bought his farm, found in his back yard "acres of diamonds!" The farm became what was known as the Golconda Diamond Mine, the largest diamond mine in the world.

Your brain cells are your "Acres of Diamonds!' You don't have to look any further than your own mind. It will help you solve your problems and make a success of your life.

Dr. Conwell later in his life, after Temple University was built, addressed each of the Graduating classes.

He always ended with..."To win, begin. All winning starts with "BEGINNING." The hardest part is always to START. So a thing begun is more than half done. Taking the first step, generating the momentum, the emotional energy, the inner urge. It motivates you to take yet another step, then another and another.. That momentum once started, will continue until the task is done."

He sent thousands of graduates out into life with that inspiring lecture.

So, whatever it is that YOU wish to succeed at, playing an instrument, painting, writing, gardening, dancing, earning more money, etc. START NOW.

The trip of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Wake up the slumbering power of your own mind.

Goethe said, "Are you in earnest? Seize this very minute. What you can do, or think you can, BEGIN IT. Starting has it's own genius, power and magic in it. Take one step and your mind grows heated. Begin it and your task is completed."

Success For The Average Man - Woman Part 6 Goal Setting

Part 6 Goal Setting

Goal Setting is the greatest, most valuable and most useful of all success techniques. There are thousands of good books and Internet articles about goal setting, but few about how it works.

The Age of Aquarius has given us the Laws of Quantum Physics. These Laws tell us that there is an infinite ocean of thinking, intelligent energy where everything exists. It is called the Quantum Ocean or Mind of God. It is responsive to your thoughts. What you think about continuously you will receive.

Your goals are written down thoughts. By looking and thinking about then daily, you will pull out of the Quantum Ocean, Mind of God, what you have written down. Decide what you want to succeed at, large or small, write it down, read every night and every morning. They will happen, it is the law.

This technique applies to any goal, large, small, short range, long range, personal, job, hobby or career. Start with selecting small goals that you are sure you can reach with a little time and effort.

If the Laws of Quantum Physics are true and thoughts are things why don't the majority of people write their thoughts of what they want down on paper?

Napoleon answers that for us. He said, "The most difficult of all tasks, and hence the most rewarding, is the power to decide. It only takes a little power to decide. It takes little power to decide on big things. And deciding on a Goal is a big thing. It affects all our lives."

Thinking is hard work. Edison said, "Most people will go to any length to avoid the labor of thinking." What ever you want large of small, material, mental, emotional or spiritual write it down. Plant a seed of attraction in the Quantum Ocean, The Mind of God. Think about it daily and you will get it.

Goethe wrote, "First build a proper goal, that proper goal will make it easy, almost automatic to build a proper you."

Right now we are all using such a small part of our mind. Think, set goals. Expand your mind. Make pencil (pen) and paper (3 X 5 cards) your best and constant friends.

Writing will force you to think. It has ten times the power of talking. Only by writing down your goal on paper can you harness the power of the Quantum Ocean, the Mind of God, to go to work for you.

Many people hesitate because they don't realize how nature works. The Laws of Quantum Physics now tell us how it works. Thoughts are things which create your life. Write down what you want. Your problems and desires are more than half solved once you get your message across to the Quantum Ocean, Mind of God.

Writing down goals, plant seeds. It makes it definite and permanent. Write it down and watch. Miracles seem to happen. Outside forces, people, places and events will come to your aide.

We need more to be reminded, than to be informed. Remind yourself daily of what you want.

You don't have to be brilliant to succeed. You only need to know how things work, and to develop a positive mental attitude and you will get what you think you will get.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Part 5 Proverbs

Part 5 The Root of Greatness Proverbs

History is full of men and women who have reached pinnacles of riches and greatness only to die broke and alone. How many of the modern day lottery winners, with all their new found money manage to make a success of their life?

Why? Because Success must start within, not given from without. To be successful in anything you want, first work on yourself. Clean up your inside, for your inside BECOMES your outside.

It will do yo no good to become super successful in making a living, making money, if you remain a failure in making a life. To build a good, successful life, get to the root of true greatness. Good BOOKS are a great starting place.

John Hopkins said, "The best well -rounded education is a collection of good books."

Edison said, "Don't read merely good books, read only the best books. It'll take many lifetimes to read all the merely good books."

Why do I pull most of my quotes from the great men and women of the past? Because they wrote about and were concerned with the well - being of the WHOLE man -woman. Today's writers seem more concerned with material wealth and technology then well- being.

Remember to journey to greatness whatever you deem to be great for you, start from the inside out. Technology has nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact in many instances it retards the inner growth.

To go one step better than just reading the best books, read the best parts of the best books. Look at what some of the great men of the past said about books (Get your own list going.)

Willam James: "To neglect the wise sayings of great thinkers is to deny ourselves our truest education."

Patrick Henry, "My favorite thought stimulators are the maxims of great men. They give me advice beyond all price. They help me to solve all my difficult problems."

Goethe: "Time has weeded out of the great books, all the unnecessary details and left us the gist, the essentials, -PROVERBS. They are the wisdom of the ages in the fewest words."

Thomas Jefferson, "Mankind would loose half it's wisdom built up over the centuries if it lost it's sayings. They contain the best parts of the books."

President Teddy Roosevelt: "Any reading is better than none, but I prefer the book of the century rather than the book of the week or any cheap novel. Time and the mind are too precious to waste to spend on anything but the best."

Henry Ford said: "Find a way or make one."

These wise sayings, from the greatest books will grip us. They will enter our blood and our bones, becoming part of us to guide us, warn us and inspire us.

The Laws of Quantum Physics tell us that we become what we think about. If we think about wise sayings we become WISE. If we think about Courageous sayings we become Brave. Sayings raise our level of consciousness.

If everybody read and practiced the golden messages of the Proverbs, we would not need jails, war, hospitals, and psychiatrists.

Mastering the Proverbs, brings us culture, a mature atitude, noble character, emotional maturity and a feeling of wholeness. It is these inside qualities that will be reflected to our outside world and bring us success.

We are heirs to all the wisdom and history of the ages. We can walk through life alongside Socrates, Emerson, Goethe, William James, Hubbard, Edison etc.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Part 4 Making Lists

Part 4 List Making

Learn to be a list maker, it sharpens your mind. List making develops observation, concentration, judgement, will power, memory, initiative, imagination and intelligence.

It will help you develop a new and wider vision of life. Learn how to make many lists. They will be your mind awakener mind sharpener, and mind builder. Sometimes little things on your list wake up a spark of ambition in you and can revolutionize your whole life.

If you are having a problem with another person make a written list before you speak to them. This way the conversation will stay on track, the problem will not drift.

Success in anything first depends upon success over yourself. Get control of your mind and your emotions. Your mind controls your emotions, your written word controls your mind.

You should be able to start several lists of your most frequent tasks, business, personal or for success. They will continuously remind you of what you have to do. They sharpen your mind and increase your efficiency for your own personal use.

At work or in your own business, make this list and ask yourself every morning:

"How can I improve some part of my job or business?"

"Does it have to be done this way?"

"How can I reduce costs and increase profits?"

"How can I save time?"

Remind yourself with your list. Make the list tailor made just for you. Make a list for every regular activity that engages your time. Watch the efficiency grow with each list you make. You will save time and with this saved time, work on your art, painting, writing etc. The most precious thing we all have is our unexpired years. Stop wasting time! It is limited!

Before making phone calls, make a list of the points you want to discuss to avoid forgetting. Before you write a letter do the same. Making lists is a good exercise in thinking. Every time you think you wake up new brain cells. You have enough brain cells to think up 100 new ideas every day for the next 50 years.

Think up a way to use a list to help people think your way. In the field of sales this is invaluable. Put on your list ideas that will help you win over hard to persuade people.

"You'll never achieve more than the crowd, until you think MORE than the crowd."

Go to the library and look up wise sayings. They never get outdated, they are ageless. You will find them under various headings, proverbs, epigrams, adages, slogans, mottoes, maxims, etc.

Here are a few, make a list of over 100 of your own.

Winston Churchill , "Every man like myself, who never went to college, can largely make up for that lack by reading the wise sayings of the great men of the past."

Emerson, "Proverbs, introduce us to ourselves, to that bigger, grander man we never knew."

Elber Hubbard, "Learning from the wise sayings of great men, is like riding to success on the shoulders of giants."

Success For The Average Man Woman Part 3 Getting Things Done

Part 3 Getting Things Done

Here is a very important exercise that takes 10 minutes that you can do before going to bed at night. Review what you did for your entire day but go through it backwards. Start with the time you are going to bed and go back one hour at a time until you reach the time you awoke. Don't strain. Just do it easily and gently.

In regards to what you want to be, where you want to go and what you want to do ask yourself: "What did I forget, neglect or foul up?" and, "What can I do to improve on today's work?"

When this is done take 5 more minutes and write on a 3 x 5 index card the six things you need to get done tomorrow. Number them in order of their importance. Put this card where you can see it the first thing in the morning when you wake up.

In the morning look at the item #1 and start working on it. Look at it every hour on the hour until you have finished it.

Then start # 2 and work on it until you have finished it. Then # 3. If you are doing this at work or while in your business keep at it until quiting time. If you are doing it at home, keep at it until supper time.

Do not be worried if you've only finished two or three of even if you have not finished number 1. What you are doing is working on the most important thing you can that will bring you success in what ever you have chosen. You have decided what is important, you have written it down and you are working on it.

At night before going to bed, take a clean 3 x 5 card and transfer all your unfinished items to it. Add to it so that you have your six items of your (Must List) for the next days most important tasks.

Sometimes the simplest ideas, like this, are often the greatest in getting results.

Charles Schwab used this index card technique to build the Bethlehem Steel Co.

Henry Ford said, "No executive is worthy of the name unless he works to a written schedule."

Thousands of successful people have placed this simple method at the top of the list of "Habits That Make For Success." This method gets things done.

Write your, (Must List) every night, it may make the turning point of your life.

In seeking success of any kind, the hardest part is always the START. A thing begun is more than half done.

Buy yourself a dozen packs of 3 x 5 cards.

How would you like to have a dynamic assistant, who never forgets to remind you of what you need to do? Do you wish you had a silent partner who drives you day and night towards your goals in life? You can hire this helper for the price of a few packs of 3 x 5 cards.

Paper never forgets!

If you want a sure fire reminder write it down on paper. If you want to solve a difficult problem write it down. Want to stick to a difficult task? Break an old habit? Start a new habit? Write it all down on paper.

Writing a thing down on paper signals your subconscious mind to work on it, to create, to realize the thing, to turn your wishes into facts.

What ever you want out of life, write it down on paper.

In this fast paced, electronic world of computers we have lost the skill of hand writing something down. The magic is the hand written 3 x5 card not in the expensive "to do" computer programs.

Turn your computer off, and spend time with your pad and pencil and 3 x 5 cards.

Success For The Average Man -Woman Part 2 A Good foundation

Success Part 2

In my first article I said that most average men and women never achieve success because they were never given the simple rules for SUCCESS.

When I talk about success, I do not mean becoming wealthy, famous or outstanding in a field of endeavor. In this world of billions of people, less that 5% of the people reach goals of that height.

What about the other 95%? Most of them really don't try to succeed but accept their place in life as being mediocre.

But everyone can become more successful in something. Everyone can become a better writer, painter, gardener, musician, aspire to a better job, a better trade earn more money etc.

That's the key. "Inch by inch, life's a cinch, yard by yard, life's too hard." Learn to advance slowly in what ever you do.

Your fist task is to build a firm foundation. Build your firm foundation on growth, not rush.

Plant growth, muscle growth or mind growth is governed by Natural Law. Growth cannot be forced without previous preparation.

What you do today prepares you for tomorrow.

To build your firm foundation to success for whatever you choose, will require that you spend one hour a day working on it. It's a tough schedule but Nature's Law is Nothing for Nothing. No Gain without Pain. How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, Practice, Practice. No Skill without Drill. No reward without effort.

The only thing that is going to come to you free and easy is old age.

An hour a day is only 4% of your week. A year it is 14% of your life. 365 days at one hour a day is 1/1700 of your life. 1/700 is not too much to pay to achieve SUCCESS in what you want to do.

Let's start preparing you for a successful life. Find and repeat an inspiring thing every morning. It will give you a lift. Repeating an inspiring saying every morning aloud will develop a positive mental attitude. Your attitude in life counts more than your abilities or talents, if you want to succeed.

The Laws of Quantum Physics are telling us that through Resonant Frequencies (Like Attracts Like) a positive attitude attracts Good Luck. It will make your life more interesting.

Here are a few you can say aloud in the morning to get you off to a good start:

"If it is to be, it is up to me."

"The world is full of wonderful things, that we should all be as rich as Kings."

"I welcome difficulties,That cuts their size in half."

Everyday I ask myself: "What can I do today to improve myself."

Repeat one of these aloud every morning until you find your own that inspires you.

Remember you become what you think about.

Success For the Average Man-Woman

Success Introduction

I read once what a great German Rune master once said; "People's lives are frittered away like so much idle chatter...."

I swore that would not happen to me. I knew I wanted to do something, be something, learn something for my children and grandchildren.

So I started to write. I started when my daughter was small, writing 40 children's fairy tales that never got published. But this did not matter as there were many in my family and friends families who enjoyed them. I consider myself a success even though I don't have Rudyard Kipling's talent nor Stephen King's millions.

I wanted to be a writer and I AM. I now write blogs and articles and post them on the net. I am happy with my success.

Along my journey, I have found many books and quotes and sayings within these books, that have inspired me to keep going. I will share them with you.

Whatever you wish to succeed in doing, I will help you. It may not make you rich and famous (although it may) but it will give you the deep satisfying feeling that you have succeeded in doing what you aspired to do. No promises, no guarantees, just simple plain talk between two friends you and I.

To be a success in writing, painting, teaching, playing a musical instrument, singing, decorating, or just getting your life into better order - you must begin with YOURSELF. The only way you can succeed on the outside is to succeed in controlling your inside.

The new Laws of Quantum Physics are telling us that thoughts are things. Whatever we think or emote comes back to us.

Thoreau said, "What you are, speaks so loudly I cannot hear what you are saying."

We all carry around so much useless dead wood inside our minds and emotions that it makes being successful, at whatever we want to be successful at, difficult.

We need to clean house of this 'dead wood' and the best way to do it is by replacing it with good 'living' thoughts.

I will share some of these thoughts with you as we progress along.

Sister Kenny, many years ago said, ".......He who angers you CONQUERS you...."

I remember when I boxed in the Army, about anger. Whenever I had a particularly difficult opponent, who kept hitting me and who I could not hit;....... well the angrier I got the more he hit me! When I got control of myself and my emotions, I fought 100% better.

Winston Churchill once said, "...Just because you have to kill a man in wartime, does not mean you have to be angry about it..."

Let's work on our inside and watch our outside blossom. How we think and feel about ourselves is very important. Many times, because we live in such a crowded world, we pick up many thoughts and feelings that do not originate within us. It is called the Law of Resonant Frequencies. We need to counter-balance them or neutralize them with other better thoughts and feelings.

Feeling depressed or in a 'poor me' mood? Flush it out by thinking "... A pauper had the blues, because he had no shoes, until he chanced to meet, a man who had NO feet..."

To be successful in anything we must first be successful with our own thoughts and moods.

We have tools to help us with this. The sayings and proverbs of successful men and women from the past are valuable. We can recall them to mind whenever we waver from our goals and purpose in life.

Good books and sayings are like spiritual and mental transfusions and we should always keep them close by.

Emerson wrote, "...Wise men know not many things, but useful things..."

We can use the useful things we know to create the success we want.

You really don't need to know many things to succeed, if you know the few things that are important. I will share them with you in the next article.
