Success For The Average Man - Woman The Method

The Method

Now that you have read all my success articles it is time for the real work to begin.

You were asked to practice the instructions in these articles an hour a day for a year. This will require a lot of work and effort. But your efforts will be repaid a hundred times over in the rewards you will enjoy for the rest of your life. Each of the articles count as one tip towards success.

Begin by buying yourself a pack of 3X5 cards file cards and a small card file to hold them in.

For tomorrow practice writing down six things you want to get done in order of their importance on one of the 3X5 cards. Keep the cards on file so you can be reminded of your progress. On a second card write the words "Reviewing Day's Activities." Place it in the card file. For the whole year every night before retiring practice reviewing your day's activities and goal setting for the next day.

The first week write ten lists of things you do frequently and place them in the card file. Making lists for all you plan to do, and succeed at, develops goal setting and will power. For the first week don't attempt to practice the items on your list. Thinking about them is enough.

Write down your main goal on a 3X5 card and tape it where you can see it every day. Make a second card and carry it with you.

Make a list of what you think are the ten most important personality traits for success. Carry one of the cards for a week as a reminder and try to live by what it says.

As you read this final article, frequently go back to the previous articles to get their valuable messages. I could rewrite them here, but one of the keys to success is work. Especially doing what you don't want to do when it needs to be done. These ten cards on personality traits will give you enough work for ten weeks. Then repeat them.

Start writing the wise sayings and proverbs on 3X5 cards and put them in your file. Re-study all the articles and on 3X5 cards decide what is the most valuable message of each article and write it down.

Your card file will now contain all your proverbs and wise sayings. It will contain a review of what you thought was the importance of each article. It will contain ten personality traits that you wish to accomplish and a weekly plan of how you will do it.

Use these cards daily as reminders of what you wish to accomplish. Practice thinking correctly and deciding correctly. Take your time and don't rush. You are giving yourself a year for these ideas to change you on the inside so that your outside will correspondingly change.

You will be associating yourself with the giants of history. You will be thinking their thoughts and internalizing some of their habits. Some of the greatness will have rubbed off on you.

The more of these wise sayings, these timely tips, you convert into habits by practicing them, the more greatness will rub off on you. The more you will become like these greatest men/women who ever lived.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Your Career

Your Career

No matter what creative project or skills you wish to master the most important one in your life will be your career.

A career is not your job. A job is a place you go to earn money. A career is a vocation that you choose because it is something you want to do; something you love to do; it is something you have the talents and ability to do.

So many people waste their lives doing things that they don't like. One that only provides money but there is no outlet for their talent, creativity or happiness.

Your career is a large part of your life. Choose one that draws out the best in benefits like satisfaction, earnings, environment, achievement, prestige and suited to your individual nature.

Look once again at the goal you have chosen and written down on your 3x5 card. If you have no goal, you drift. Too many goals and you scatter your energies. A goal beyond your reach will frustrate you. one below you will lead to boredom. One with too long a range will get you no where. One with too short a range will get you no where.

Emerson said, "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."

How do you find what is the best vocation for you? Do anything that might help you find yourself. How much time and money have you already spent on things not half as likely to bring you such rich reward as finding yourself? You can change careers at any time. You can start school at 40 or 60. You can find out what is natural for you at any age. Go after it.

Aim at something within reach. Be an optimist but not an idiot. Aim at the reachable. To try something and fail is better for you than trying nothing and succeeding.

There are clues to your future in your past. there is no gold mine as rich as your own past experiences. All your talents, wishes and interests are hidden there. Study them. Dig them out. Remember Acres of Diamonds? Your diamond is probably closer than you think.

Ask yourself of any career that interests you. Does it serve a useful purpose? Am I proud of it? Is it constructive of human welfare? Do I admire people in this career with self respect and satisfaction. If not, drop it.

Some people's talents are so obvious we call them born actors, salesmen, artists etc. They have no problem, but the rest of us have to dig it out.

Knowledge is power. It is doubly true when that knowledge is about ourselves. Get to know yourself, start writing. List your desires, abilities, possibilities, limitations, skills, experiences and possible alternatives. So many apparently "impossible" problems were solved in writing.

Define clearly what you want. If you had your choice of any job, what would it be? Buy yourself a dozen packs of 3 x 5 cards and a large notebook. From now on think and write. Ideas come with writing .

You'll never know what great possibilities are hidden inside of you without a thorough search in writing. Explore it fully. Think, compare, combine, associate relate, adapt.

Write down on a piece of paper the words, "How can I find my right career? or Goal in life? what first steps can I take?" Then listen. Writing this down acts like magic. It starts the flow of ideas. Once you find yourself, most of your other problems solve themselves.

Here is a paraphrase of Kipling's last thought in his poem, "IF"

"If you can stick, and give up through boredom, but keep trying, to the very end, yours is the world, and everything that's in it, and what is more, you'll succeed my friend."

Success For The Average Man - Woman Repetition

Repetition

There's the story about a skinny, old, shabbily dressed Lawyer who appeared in court to plead a case. He was so shabby that every one felt sorry for him. To inspire confidence, he didn't look like much of a match for the opposing, handsome, young lawyer. Yet the old shabby lawyer won the case.

Why? Everyone wanted to know. The young lawyer was puzzled. He went over to the shabby old lawyer. First he congratulated him, then said, "You and everyone else knows I should have been the one to win this case. Can you tell me how YOU won?"

"Sure I can tell you," the old lawyer said. "You quoted eleven sound arguments. But the jury didn't remember a single one. I quoted only one, but I repeated that one nine times in just slightly different words.. I didn't win that case. The repetition won. Young man, never neglect the power of repetition.

Repetition is Heaven's first law.

Therefore repeat the following wisdom sayings over and over as a daily practice until they become part of you.

Life's royal crown jewels: Health and peace of mind. Treat them royally.

Get your happiness out of your work or you'll never know what happiness is.

Make yourself do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain. Face fears fiercely and they'll flee. He who battles with us strengthens us.

Thinking is creative. Think your tasks as easy: that will make them so.

We never grow old. We get old when we stop growing. Keeping useful keeps us youthful.

Yard by yard, all tasks are hard, inch by inch, they're all a cinch.

Test of true courage: Do you always do what you should do, when it should be done, whether you feel like it or not?

Learn how and do now.

All obstacles are power generators.

The supreme philosophy is fortitude, self mastery.

Daily repeat words of power, strength, courage, self-confidence, success.

Act a part long enough and you will BECOME the part.

New thoughts make you a new man.

Be ye renewed by the re-newing of your mind.

Every day say to your self something good is going to happen to me today.

Do that thing you planned to do; it's later than you think.

Success starts with a dream, a thought; but that's only the first step. Writing it down is the second step. Doing one specific thing to bring it about is the third step.

Everyone of us should find time every day to be alone with them self to meditate, to take stock of them self. In silence great things fashion themselves.

Firmly believe you have reserves of health, energy, strength and endurance and that firm belief will help bring it about.

What is old age? It is a lack of interest. Keep up you interest and you'll never be old.

It takes many people a lifetime to learn that health is more important than money, fun and fame.

Nature's changeless Law "Nothing for Nothing."

Everyone needs a goal to keep him from being distracted by non-essentials.

Rest but never quit. Even the Sun has a sinking spell every evening, but always rises the next morning. At Sunrise every soul is born again.

To be great concentrate. Most people remain ordinary because they scatter their energies.

Do you love life? Then don't squander time.

Thinking is the highest faculty of the human mind.

Use yours more often.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Attract Good Luck

Attract Good Luck

There is the story about the fatherless child who saw a man riding by in a fancy carriage. He asked his mother who it was. "That man is a congressman," she replied.

"That's what I want to be when I grow up," the little boy said.

The next morning the mother found a note pasted on the mirror in the boys room, with the words, "I'm going to be a congressman."

The next week the boy took a job chopping wood to get books to read. At 16, he found a job driving mules to help his mother and continue his studies. At 18, he took a job sweeping the academy floors to pay his tuition. For the next 3 years he worked as a carpenter. Then he taught school for $12.00 a week. Two years later, he graduated with honors from Williams College with a law degree. At 26 he was a state senator and at 33 he was a congressman!

His mother stated that the note stayed on his mirror until he was elected to congress. Years later, he became known as James A. Garfield, president of the the United States.

What made him president was that at age 10 he was serious enough to write his dream down on paper and look at it every day.

The starting point of all success is a thought. Write down yours.

Here are some wisdom thoughts of the ages to help you. Create or find your own.

Successful men think. They think up more opportunities than they find.

Nothing is more precious than time, nor less valued. It is your richest treasure. Invest it profitably.

A written down goal, in some ways no one understands, tends to attract every ingredient it needs to realize it.

Risk is essential to life. It's total absence is Death.

Most failures are caused by not realizing the power of momentum, getting started.

You're not fully mature unless you're prepared for the unexpected.

Our greatest need is to teach people how to think, not what.

Rather be tired than bored.

What can't be cured must be endured. Time and patience will make them easy.

The great composer doesn't work because he's inspired. He's inspired because he works.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

The quality of life depends upon your goals.

What we think about most is weaving itself into the fabric of our subconscious mind, increasing it's power to attract what we desire most.

One over looked success technique is doing things in the order of importance.

Your discipline today will govern your tomorrow.

If you have a dream, you have everything that matters. If you have no dream, it's later than you think. Better get one.

Luck and skill are closely related.

Never regret growing old: not every one has the privilege.

The only way to kill time is to work it to death.

Acting rich, keeps people poor.

The most practical of all educations is that which trains us to do what we should do, when it should be done, weather we feel like it or not.

Change your thoughts and you change your life.

Repeat and re-read. Repeat and re-read.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Money

Success for the Average Man - Woman
Money

No matter what you goal is, authorities say there are thirteen categories for people's needs: Career, Health, Security, Courage, Personality, Happiness, Self Improvement, Life Direction, Self Discipline, Love, Responsibility, Friendship and Aging Gracefully.

No matter what your goal is, the truest measure of success is money. It is very helpful and often absolutely necessary for achieving your goals and doing good, for doing everything you want. Sometimes it means the difference between Life and Death.

The Following are more wise sayings, condensed wisdom of the ages. Every one has a definite purpose. They also command action or suggest action. They all say work, work, work and then some more work. It isn't enough to just read wise sayings, you must convert them into habits. They must become automatic, subconscious.

Follow the example of Benjamin Franklin's Master Key to Personal Power. He liked to read history and Biographies. He studied the lives of successful people. He found they all had thirteen traits. He began to cultivate these traits. He tried and tried unsuccessfully. Then he came across one of the wise sayings of the ages, "To be great, concentrate."

He wrote and defined each trait in his own words. He wrote and re-wrote until what he had to do was clear in his mind. He practiced performing some action for his first trait. The following week second action for second trait. Soon his traits became habits in Thirteen weeks.

Now start reading some of the wise sayings of the ages and put them into practice one at a time.

Stand firm against all temptations to spend.

Never be without a pencil and paper to catch unexpected, but useful tips, facts and ideas.

Cut out all non-essentials.

Keep a sharp eye on the Devil, Procrastination.

Every morning say, "I will improve something today."

Short as life is, we make it shorter by wasting time.

He who angers you conquers you.

The Darkest Day in our lives is when we plan to get money without working.

The highest of all arts, and the most rewarding, is the Art of Living.

We can change our lives by changing our thoughts. Our thoughts are are best friends and our worst enemies. They shape our lives.

A strong conviction that a thing can be done conditions the mind, impels it to think, to find a way to do it.

Patience is bitter, but it's fruit is sweet. Sometimes a it is a fortune builder.

Opportunities, when seized, multiply, when neglected they vanish.

Every day drive yourself to do something difficult.

One thing you'll always notice about great or successful people; they are always studying.

Your most prized possessions are your unexpired years.

The ultimate wisdom and ambition is to be happy at home

Success For The Average Man - Woman Wisdom of the Ages

Wisdom of the Ages

If you started to follow Benjamin Franklin's program of taking one personality trait at a time there will be no limit to what you can accomplish in your life.

To insure success in any field you endeavor in, you will need goal-setting and will power. Plus you will need patience to lick the monotony and drudgery that success demands.

Repetition is Heaven's fist Law and it is the best teacher. Never neglect the power of repetition. Repeating and re-reading will be your secret weapons for reaching your goals. Most failures in any project, be it painting a picture or creating a fortune is due to lack of patience and persistence.

Take the following golden messages of the Ages and make them your own. Absorb them, internalize them, and make them habits.

Purdue University made tests to show that material read only once is remembered on 2% two weeks later. Read more than once 6% is remembered. We think faster than we read so we have to go back and read the page again. Do it and you will see something the second time that you did not see the first time. If you start to read these wise tips every day, they can build up your confidence, tranquility, and assurance, so that such things as stress and worry can never touch you.

I have written my wise sayings on 3 X 5 cards. Over the years, I have collected over 600 of them.

At night before bed, I sit in my favorite chair, relax and breathe deeply. Then I reach for a stack of my cards and look at them one at a time and say them aloud. Then I put the one I just said on the bottom of the stack.

I don't pollute my mind with TV, a cheap novel or the news before bed. This is a sacred time. It is these thoughts and emotions that will by the Law of Attraction, determine where you will travel in your sleep. The higher of lower dream state you will go to.

I also take part of my cards with me when I drive. I again don't listen to the radio unless it is a station with uplifting music. Again, I take a quick look at my cards, say it out loud, and put it on the bottom of the pile. Don't waste your time. Use it all productively. These cards work.

Samuel Johnson wrote: "He is the most useful teacher who condenses the most knowledge into short sentences that are easily remembered and applied. "

Sidney Smith said: "The writer helps us the most who gives us the most knowledge and takes from us the least time."

Will Durant said, "For every book I write, I read 500 books for gathering material for that one book."

Here are some inspiring timely tips for you to start with. Copy them on 3 X 5 cards and add many more yourself.

Man alone of all God's creatures, can change himself for the better.

We change ourselves by changing our thoughts.

The easiest and quickest way to change yourself is to set a lofty goal and work for it.

Look to this day; for it is Life, the very Life of Life!

Now is the best time to start anything.

Cut out all non-essentials. Cut all puttering and dawdling.

I will improve something today.

Your environment largely shapes your future. Take the time to select one that will shape the life you like to have.

Be tolerant. Everybody is fighting a tough battle, just like you.

Short as life is, we make it shorter by wasting time.

In wisdom and judgment men over 50 outshine men under 30.

Blessed is he who has found his right work; let him ask no further blessings.

The ultimate ambition is be happy at home.

Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events and happenings, and small minds discuss people and things.

Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the conquest of fear.

He who angers you conquers you.

It is nobler to try something and fail, than to try nothing and succeed.

Half of the world's work is done by people who don't feel good.

To live to be 100, have something to live for, living is for something is part of living longer.

We must have long range goals to keep us from being discouraged by short range set backs.

A light purse makes a happy heart. A small house or car is less annoying than a large debt.

As the gardener prunes the tree to draw the sap into one of the two branches, so must we concentrate on one or two to avoid scattering our talents.

Just once in your life sit down to think and decide what one thing you want most out of life. What do you want to be, to do, or have.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Effective Thinking

Effective Thinking

Almost everybody fails because they have no goals. "Without a Vision a man perishes in the Wilderness." The reason it is so difficult for people to choose goals is because deciding on a goal requires hard work.

Thinking is hard work! Thinking is the highest faculty of the human mind. Thinking should be taught in all the schools. But schools merely tell us what to think not HOW.

When Albert Schweitzer was asked what's wrong with the world he answered : "They don't think enough."

You will never achieve more than the crowd unless you think more than the crowd.

Here is how William James used thought. He said" "When ever I want to throughly understand a subject, I ask questions about it, not of others, but of myself. Questions pry deeper than statements. They have ten times as much power to inspire thinking as statements."

Napoleon said, "I am a great friend of analysis. The questions "How and why" lead to solutions of all my difficult problems.

What ever goal is, ask yourself questions to stimulate your thinking.
For Creative Thinking take a piece of paper and write down the words, What?, Who?, When?, Where?, and Why? then fill in the answers.

Then to speed up the process, write How? Cause? Effect? Similarity? Contrast? Past? Future? Answer all these questions.

Then finish off these twelve questions with the following six statements: Write, Compare, Combine, Associate, Re-arrange, Substitute and Write. Fill in a short comment on these six statements.
These twelve questions and six statements are automatic thought simulators. They help you to concentrate on your project, to compel you to observe.

In real life some newspaper editors require their reporters to answer these questions in every article they write.

Don't be so concerned with the answers you write when you first start this exercise. You will get better with time. The questions you ask yourself are more important than the answers.

Every new idea and invention in the world was produced by combining old ideas to form new ones. There was never a new idea. As a matter of fact the Laws of Quantum Physics now tell us that everything, ideas included, that ever was, is or will be is contained in an infinite Ocean, Mind of God. The Quantum Ocean responds to man's thoughts and questions.

By asking yourself questions you are asking the Quantum Ocean, Mind of God. When you start asking yourself questions you will discover valuable information stored in your subconscious, mind (Quantum Ocean.)

When ever you want to know more about a project, a subject or just want to solve a difficult problem, or make a difficult decision, ask yourself questions. This is the easiest and fastest way to solve your problems.

Learn how to combine your thoughts. Practice writing more.

Bacon said,"Reading maketh a full man, speech a ready man, and writing an exact man.”

Many of us can only think one or two steps ahead. With paper and pen you can think into the future. Substitute the process of writing for the process of mere thinking. Start writing and tap your subconscious (Quantum Ocean). It is a vast storehouse of Power. Turn the switch on by writing.

Doing what you know you ought to do when you don't feel like it develops will power, character, and all other success traits.

Writing will tell you where your rich hidden talents are hidden. Writing will compel you from within to act whether you feel like it or not.

Written words and ideas are magnets and simulators, Writing is the only way to solve difficult problems, the only way to get new ideas.

Success For The Average Man - Woman Personality

Personality

Since we can't get along in life without associating with others, learn to be popular and have fun doing it.

There are three magic words you can use to make your personality a winning one:
Kindness
Friendliness
Cheerfulness

To start building these traits into your personality get yourself some cardboard and cut it into 12 one by two inch pieces. Write down the words kindness, friendliness and cheerfulness on each of the cards.
Put one in your pocket or purse, one on your car dash, one on your bathroom mirror and spread the rest around where you will see them.

All great people have some form of reminders. We need more to be reminded than informed.

Start practicing kindness, friendliness and cheerfulness daily. When you meet someone today find a way to compliment them.

Mark Twain said: "I can live two months on a good compliment."

When you meet a stranger think good thoughts about them.

Emerson said: "What you are speaks so loudly that I can't hear what you say." People will respond to your thoughts.

Increase your "Thank you habit." Say thank you whenever you can.

In your conversations try not to use the words I or me or mine or my. It is difficult but try.

Spend 15 minutes at night before going to bed and review the mistakes and foul-ups you made in dealing with others. Think of a way to avoid them tomorrow.

Start a 'Happiness Book.' Every day write down in a book some pleasant happening. Do it before going to sleep.

Listen to people intently. Be surprised at what they tell you. Don't interrupt and say "I know that." Or add to it. Let them think they are telling you something you do not know and can use. Say, "Is that right?" or " You must be kidding." or "I didn't know that, thank you." What was that?" Don't be a 'know it all', even if you do know it all. It turns people off and makes them angry.

Try to smile more. "Act like your cheerful and you quickly feel cheerful"

Don't try to learn or practice your new personality traits all at once. One at a time.

Franklin had a good method. He wanted to develop 13 traits. He failed for 10 years when he tried to develop them all at once. When he switched to one trait at a time method, he had all 13 in 2 years. He said, "Without this method, I wouldn't have had any great achievements.

Listen to what was said about men with great personalities. It could happen to you.

"He couldn't even talk to a tramp begging for food, without making the tramp feel that he was once a celebrity, who misfortune bought down to this lowly state." Said about Goethe.

"He is a true friend. He knows all about my faults but respects and loves me just the same." Said about Teddy Roosevelt.
